Welcome to Superfli - Make Something the World Needs (fast)

🇬🇧 Today: UK Government's AI Action Plan > Potentially big opportunities for startups tackling impact challenges 🌍

Hi there, welcome to Superfli.

I’ve started this newsletter to share stories, startups and progress on ‘AI for Good’.

From everything I’ve seen and learnt over the last 2 years - including running 5 climate hackathons (Earth AI), helping build an AI powered climate fundraising tool (Raaise.co) and running workshops and keynotes on examples of ‘AI for Good’ - it really does seem that this new supertech can potentially accelerate a lot of solutions.

Although I use AI to research and organise my writing, the majority of what you read is me + a spellchecker.

Today I’m focusing on a big announcement in the UK that could impact all of us working on innovation and impact here…

"AI should be your organisation’s number one priority."

Tony Blair

Sounds like Keir Starmer has been listening to Jimmy's Jobs of the Future.

Not often I get excited by UK Gov announcements but this strategy to accelerate AI innovation, has real potential for founders and investors working on impact solutions for climate, nature, and health....and we need speed.

Great work Matt Clifford + team.

Here's why it matters:

1️⃣ AI Growth Zones: New hubs for data centres and infrastructure to for innovation starting at the UK Atomic Energy Authority in Oxfordshire 🌱

2️⃣ Supercomputing Power: Boost in AI computing capacity. We need this but what about sustainability of powering it? Hopefully joined up thinking with Clean Energy plan. 🚀

3️⃣ Access to Public Data: Without quality datasets, AI is pretty useless. What dataset would you love to access? 📊

4️⃣ Talent Pipeline: Expanded visa schemes and scholarships mean more skilled professionals in the UK. What kind of talent are we missing /could we attract/train? 💡

5️⃣ Public Sector Collaboration: AI could transform public services like health and education. Could your startup partner with government to deliver impact at scale, e.g magicnotes by 👨‍💻 Alex Stephany? 🤝

6️⃣ Safe & Responsible Innovation: The new AI Safety Institute and robust regulations will be vital. ⚖️
